Hi, I’m Jemma, the founder of this site jemmaland. and I believe that training should be the best part of your dog’s day. As a certified trainer (DTC) and a graduate of the world-renowned Karen Pryor Puppy Start Right program, I provide vet-recommended, force-free training that puts your dog’s emotional well-being first.

My Philosophy: Training with Heart

I am often asked why I call myself "Your Compassionate Dog Trainer." The answer is simple: I train with kindness and fun. By using whatever your dog finds most reinforcing—whether that’s a favorite toy, a tasty treat, or a joyful "good boy"—we build a relationship based on trust rather than fear. I help your puppy or your dog feel safe in the human world. My mission is to help dog owners in Shrewsbury and accross Shropshire and online build a lifelong bond with their dog through compassionate, science based dog training.

A Specialist in Puppy Development

The first few months of a dog's life are transformative. I specialise in early puppy socialisation and habituation because I am passionate about helping puppies thrive from the very start. My goal is to set every owner up for success, preventing behavioral issues before they start. Having a confident a calm puppy increases their learning capacity for training imporant skills like loose lead walking, recall and not jumping up.

Why I Do What I Do

My dedication to training is deeply rooted in my love for rescue dogs. Having fostered three rescues for Shad’s Legacy in Chester—including one puppy and two adult dogs—I have seen firsthand how the right foundation can change a dog's destiny. By teaching owners how to communicate effectively with their pets, I hope to keep more dogs in happy homes and support the rescue world I care so much about.
